Storytime & Song: How Music Brings Books to Life

Reading and singing go hand in hand when it comes to early childhood learning. If you’ve come to any of our Early Childhood Music Group classes you’ll know that I love sharing beautiful books often at the end of our session with families. Pairing books with songs not only makes storytime more engaging but also strengthens language development, memory, and a love for music! Here are some fantastic book and song pairings that will turn reading into a full and rich sensory experience for little learners.

Why Pair Books and Songs?

  • Boosts Early Literacy – Singing slows down language, helping children process words and develop phonemic awareness.
  • Encourages Engagement – Music makes storytime more interactive, helping to hold little ones’ attention.
  • Supports Memory & Learning – Melodies and rhythms help children retain information, making learning fun and effective!
